At the heart of the GEM are 17 meticulously crafted storybooks, each designed to illuminate the inter-connectedness of the planet, people, and prosperity. These books, which align with the recommendations of NEP 2020, are more than just educational tools; they are instruments of change, helping children understand the importance of sustainability from an early age.
Recognising that over 85 per cent of cumulative brain development occurs before the age of six, these books employ storytelling as a powerful pedagogical tool to instill foundational learning and awareness about environmental stewardship.
Since the launch of the series by Dr Pheroza J. Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Mangroves, GEM has garnered widespread acclaim, with endorsements from celebrities, social entrepreneurs, educators, and parents alike. Its impact is already visible in schools across India, where children are becoming more socially conscious and environmentally responsible, committed to building a sustainable and equitable world for tomorrow.
GEM Project is not only creating environmental awareness but also training the trainers. By equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to teach sustainability, SAMVAW is building a pipeline of future leaders who understand the critical importance of addressing environmental challenges and achieving global sustainability goals.
